Vancouver and Makeup Concept

Vancouver is well known for its astonishing scenery and its relaxing living style. Annie is inspired by this beautiful city and it is an ideal environment for creativity.  As local artists and photographers often exchange ideas and produce collaborative work, it gives Annie perfect opportunities to express her makeup creativity.

Along with creative beauty makeup looks, Annie thinks it is very important to bring out the natural beauty in everybody without looking overdone or “caked”.

“Makeup should not be an artificial means to conceal one’s uniqueness but rather it is to bring out and enhance the natural beauty in every person”.

Annie’s makeup concept is that it doesn’t matter if one is a supermodel or wears glamour makeup, everyone should embrace themselves and be confident in who they are.  Everyone can look stunning with just a slight touch of lip gloss or mascara that enhances their beautiful features.

The most important step to any makeup style, from nude to glamour looks, is a great foundation for complexion.  Prior to any makeup applications, prep your skin with a good hydration moisturizer to make sure the skin stays hydrated throughout the day. Then apply your primer and foundation for a full coverage. Make sure you have a good concealer that is the same skin tone or one shade lighter than your foundation to cover possible dark circles under the eyes. A good concealer is one that is not too greasy or drying for your skin and it is your all-purpose secret weapon in achieving a flawless complexion.

The Vancouverite Must-Know-How Look

The most popular look in the fashion world is the “Smokey-eye” look; it is a beautiful look that is wearable for everyone. Here are some makeup tips from Annie to avoid the smoky-eye turning into a “panda-eye” look.

Step by Step:

1) Apply foundation, concealer, and loose powder.

2) Use a water-proof eye shadow base and apply all over the upper lids.

3) Put black eye shadow on the upper lids and blend the edges of the shadows until there is not hard edge.

4) Use a black kohl pencil to fill the bottom waterlines of the eyes and pat the lines with black eye shadow.

5) Highlight the inner corner of the eyes with a bright shimmery eye shadow color to complete the look.

6) To add some variety to the smoky-eye look, you can add different eye shadow colors and blend into the edge of the black on the upper lids.
